THE BENEFITS OF NOSE BREATHING

Some simple reasons why you would want to breathe through your nose if you are able to:

  • It encourages the diaphragm to do its job properly. This muscle is the main driver of breathing and plays an important role in your core strength.

  • If the diaphragm can function more efficiently it may reduce the unnecessary load on other muscles which step up and help.

  • Breathing through the nose slows down your breathing rate.
    This can help maintain a balanced CO2 level in your body. CO2 assists in the regulation of all body systems such as the respiratory, digestive, nervous, hormonal and immune systems, and cardiovascular systems.

  • Slowing your breathing rate also activates the Parasympathetic Nervous System, reducing the bodies stress response.

  • It may help reduce blood pressure and heart rate.
